About Me

My name is Rocky Amalfitano, and I have been working on games for as long as I can remember!

I have a plethora of skills that have culminated over my tenure as a game developer. This page of my website aims to explain why I learned so many things and who I am, on a personal level.

I have skills in:

  • Game Design
  • 2D Art
  • 3D Art
  • Map Development (aka as a "builder")
  • Worldbuilding
  • Programming
  • UI Design
  • Team/project management
  • Video Editing
  • Social Media Engagement

Skills I am still learning:

  • 2D Animation (UI focus)
  • 3D Animation
  • Short Form Video Editing

There are also some skills I'd like to learn:

  • Sound Effects
  • Music Composition

My Work

Working in the indie side of game development, it is important to be able to switch roles on a project when needed. As such, I have learned almost every skill I needed to at that time and those skills have not faded!

I have worked on far more projects than the [GAMES] page will suggest, but I chose to only include ones I had a major impact on that have released or are still a work in progress.

As stated in multiple of the games on this website, I have worked in both "large" teams (for indie standards) and small teams.

I understand that game development is a business, and I treat it as such. However, I do have some core beliefs that I feel very strongly:

My Philosophies:

Videogames are Art!

As for why I started learning game development skills, I did not have very much to do as a kid. I was homeschooled and alone most of the time. I made most of my friends and best memories through games, so I ask you this: in a world where making good memories can be difficult, why are videogames considered "childish" or less than art? I have been moved by games, cried to endings, and felt their impact idly in my mind as I go through my life. Games are a culmination of life and imagination to its fullest, and anyone can enjoy them. The fact of the matter is: videogames are art! Nothing comes close to the experience they provide to millions across the globe, and I want to be a part of that!

Love the Burn

I did not start my game development journey just because I liked games, in fact, I don't play many games anymore. What I love is the creative process, the learning, and the burn of struggling to break out of poor habits and become greater. This sounds dramatic, I know, but this philosophy I hold true, not just to game development but my life as a whole. I used to be nearly 300 pounds when I started my professional journey, and unfortunately, gamedev is not very physical. Despite this, I knew that something in my life must change eventually. I always desired something, whether it be a better body or a game people would remember for the rest of their lives. For most of my life, I thought, yeah, I have the skills, but it's impossible. And that is true. Everything in life is impossible without the burn. Feeling it for the first time always hurts, but with enough repetetion and preservation your restraints will burn away too.

Either way, I don't like reminscing on my past. For me, I love the burn, not flaunting it to others. Those who want it will do it, that is my belief!
